Job Description
As a Young Children’s Therapeutic Support Worker at The Stepz Group, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support and care to young children within our residential setting. Your primary focus will be to create a nurturing and safe environment where children feel valued and cherished throughout their journey of growth and learning.
Responsibilities:
Therapeutic Care:
Implement therapeutic strategies and interventions in line with individual care plans, supporting children’s emotional and mental well-being.
Personalised Support:
Understand and meet the unique needs of each child, building meaningful relationships and offering personalised care.
Empowerment and Development:
Encourage and support children’s personal development, fostering self-esteem, and promoting positive coping mechanisms.
Engaging Activities:
Plan and facilitate creative and engaging activities that promote emotional expression and social interactions.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the wider care team, including therapists, educators, and external agencies, to ensure holistic support for the children.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of interactions, progress, and behaviour.
Safety and Well-being:
Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, adhering to safeguarding guidelines and protocols.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Minimum of Level 3 qualification in Children and Young People Workforce or equivalent.
Experience:
Proven experience in providing therapeutic support to young children in a residential care or similar setting.
Empathy and Compassion:
A genuine passion for working with children and a compassionate, understanding approach.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse care team and contribute to a nurturing and supportive environment.
Excellent Communication:
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Adaptability:
Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and individual needs of the children.
DBS Check:
Successful completion of an enhanced DBS check.
